Q. I have my students use a search engine to find answers for the class worksheets? Does this constitute providing a digital learning environment?
A. If you are engaging the students in learning how to navigate a browser/search engine to obtain results (answers) that meet a criteria such as: Is the information biased? Is the site trustworthy? Are the students learning to identify material that is labeled for reuse? Are you discussing plagiarism? If you are including skill sets such as these, I would say that you are stepping in the right direction. (Remember, I am on this journey to becoming a better global educator using a digital environment. So, this is just my observation. Keep adding a little more from the resources above. I think there is no end to this journey; our lessons need to continually evolve as technology evolves. The Digital Literacy 101 has some great presentations.
